Insulation of assemblies
All heat transfer systems have flange connections as well as a variety fittings and valves, most of which are not insulated and operate with high rates of heat losses, because of their high maintenance requirements. Shut-off valves, gate valves, filters, droplet separators, control valves, flange and welded fittings as well as threaded valves can all be fitted with reusable insulation jackets. The use of DynoFlex insulation blankets improves system efficiency and provides quick access for maintenance.

Any fitting whose principle of operation does not preclude it may be insulated. In most cases all valves in a system—other than thermodynamic or thermostatic condensate separator fittings—should be fitted with DynoFlex insulation jackets.
Apart from its moving components, an assembly is typically fully insulated. An ideal assembly insulation is free of heat bridges, it fully overlaps the adjacent insulation, covers the valve body, the stuffing box, the flanges and counter-flanges, without impeding operation or actuation. With our DynoFlex insulations we always aim to insulate as much surface area as possible.
Even safety valves should be insulated, since the steam is present in a steam system all the way to the shut-off point, so the assembly will also overheat and dissipate heat to the environment.
